Vishvesh Parmar is an Indian Playback Singer and Music Composer who is known for his composition Pankhida from the film Kevi Rite Jaish. He is the winner of ‘Most Entertaining Song 2012’ Binnani Big Gujarati Award. He is a guitarist and has performed across the country in numerous college festivals and stage shows.
Vishvesh Parmar was born in Anand (the Milk City of India) on 28th November 1983 and grew up in Nadiad, both towns in the state of Gujarat. He attended school at St. Mary’s High School, Nadiad and in August 2001, moved within the state to Vallabh Vidyanagar to pursue his engineering degree at A.D Patel Institute of Technology.
While studying in college, Vishvesh participated in many youth festivals, inter-college group and solo singing competitions and won many prizes. He has never received any formal training in music but was very passionate about singing and playing guitar. This led to his realization that he was more inclined to music than engineering.
In February of 2007, he moved to Ahmadabad, Gujarat where he gave solo performances on weekends at the renowned Café Mint. After spending few months in Ahmedabad, Vishvesh moved to Mumbai (July 2008) to study sound engineering and recording arts at Digital Academy – The Film School where he was under the guidance of the reputed Indian Sound Engineer, Mr. Daman Sood. During this study, Vishvesh met various sound engineers from Bollywood; one of them being Mr. Kohinoor Mukherjee who recognized his spark and invited him to join as an assistant.
Besides pursuing a diploma in sound engineering, Vishvesh was a part of a Mumbai based band, “Aayam” formed by drummer Shiksha Bali and himself. Aayam has participated and won accolades in competitions across Mumbai and Pune.
While working as an Assistant Sound Engineer to Kohinoor Mukherjee (for the films like Rann, Phoonk 2 payback), Vishvesh was introduced to the music composer of these films Duo Dharam – Sandeep. Impressed by his work and dedication, he was asked to work as Assistant Music Composer for their next film – Raktha Charitra 1 and its sequel, Raktha Charitra 2. Vishvesh’s singing skills caught Sandeep Patil’s attention and he was offered the song “Milega Marega” from Raktha Charitra 2; paving way for into his career as a debut playback singer.
In June 2011, Vishvesh met Abhishek Jain in Nadiad and was asked to do a demo for his upcoming urban Gujarati film “Kevi Rite Jaish.” His fresh and unique modern musical instrument arrangement was a breather from the conventional Gujarati music which previous composers had been offering. Abhishek Jain was overwhelmed with the energy and dynamics Vishvesh blended in the song and it was exactly what this youth appealing movie was looking for. Immediately, he signed Vishvesh for two songs “Pankhida” and “Kharekhar.”
The song “Pankhida” is originally a very popular Gujarati Folk Garbo. The song starts with traditional Garba beats of Dhol and slowly flows into hard rock grooves and heavy guitars. Suraj Jagan (Give me some sunshine – 3 Idiots fame) sung the song fluently in the Gujarati accent and it was recorded at the audio Garage Juhu Mumbai. It was used in the first trailer of the film Kevi Rite Jaish (May 2, 2012). The song was a viral hit (reported by Times of India) and grew immensely popular among the youth. After the song was made available for download (May 26, 2012), it got above 100,000 downloads in just four days from the official website.
The uniqueness of this song lies in the lyrics and its find-of-its kind experiment with usual beats. The song starts with traditional Garba beats of Dhol and slowly flows into hard rock grooves and heavy guitars. The lyrics are “Pankhida re udi jaje America re, Obama ne Jaine Kaheje Visa Aape re..” which means O bird , fly to America , and request Mr. Obama to grant a visa.
Vishesh recently worked in Satish Kaushik directed film Gang of Ghosts as a playback singer for the song Ishq Behn ka Dinna which a Haryanvi Rock. (released on February 26, 2014).
